Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Plant Nanni ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our platform at plantnanni.com. We operate in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Plant Nanni account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Plant Experts (Nannis) also provide a phone number, city, province, and details about their plant care specialties.
Booking & Payment Information
When you book a service, we collect your service address, scheduling preferences, and any notes you provide. Payment is processed securely through Stripe — we do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
Profile & Application Data
Nannis who apply to join the platform submit additional information including proof of insurance, background check consent, and a plant care knowledge assessment.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you use Plant Nanni, including pages visited, features used, and device/browser information. This helps us improve the platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
To Provide the Service
We use your information to match plant owners with qualified Nannis, process bookings, handle payments, send booking confirmations and reminders, and facilitate communication between parties.
Trust & Safety
We use application data, quiz results, and insurance verification to vet Nannis before they join the platform. Background check information is processed by our third-party provider and is not stored on Plant Nanni servers.
Platform Improvement
Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand how the platform is used and where we can improve the experience for plant owners and Nannis alike.
Communications
We send transactional emails (booking confirmations, receipts, visit reminders) and, with your consent, occasional platform updates. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.
4. Data Retention
Active Accounts
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services.
Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at [email protected]. We will process your request within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Booking Records
Booking and payment records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with Canadian tax and financial record-keeping requirements.
5. Your Rights (PIPEDA)
Access & Correction
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate.
Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawal may affect your ability to use certain features of the platform.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Security
How We Protect Your Data
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your personal information. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA.
8. Changes to This Policy
Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of Plant Nanni after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
